What is an OSCommerce Expert?
If you search the web for "oscommerce expert," a large number of results will be returned.
Are there really that many "experts" out there? The answer is "no." There are a lot of
people calling themselves oscommerce experts but not that many that actually are. This
isn't to say they are not talented individuals. In many cases they are. But that doens't
mean they have talent when it comes to oscommerce. We can make these statements for a number of
reasons:
- A relatively large number of our clients are the "experts" themselves. They will contact
us with problems they are not able to solve and then tell their customers they solved the problem.
- Much of the code they use has been written by us. If you find such a site, especially if
it offers SEO work, check the name of the contributions they will install. In many cases, at least
one of the contributions will be one we wrote.
- Many of our customers come to us after having their shops worked on by these "oscommerce experts," asking
that we fix the problems introduced by them.
We are not trying to say all of the links found on the web under the "oscommerce expert" title are links to
shops run by scammers. We truly believe there are many, very good programmers out there and know quite a few of them
personally. But even those, in most cases, use our code at one point. So the question should be,
"Is it better to use an 'oscommerce expert' that uses someone elses code or the 'oscommerce expert' that
actually wrote the code?"
